Keep our friends further south in your thoughts in preparation for Hurricane Ian making landfall later today. Make sure to follow Hall County Emergency Management for updates on the storm and how it may impact us in Gainesville-Hall County!Hurricane Ian will make landfall in Florida later today and update tracking is showing impacts to southeast Georgia as well. Hall County is expecting impacts in the form of heavy rain and high winds to begin Thursday evening through Saturday.

US National Weather Service Peachtree City Georgia said the following regarding impacts to our area in their Area Forecast Discussion this morning:

"Locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds are likely through Saturday. The heaviest rainfall axis remains across eastern portions of the CWA, closest to the center of circulation. As the remnants of Ian continue inland, the winds are expected to spread out from the center. The pressure gradient is also expected to be pretty tight
across the area late Thursday into Friday as Ian interacts with a strong high pressure ridge in place across the mid south."

We will be participating in another briefing with the weather service and our partners at 12:30.
