The Georgia Cycling Youth Mountain Bike Program presented by REI uses the healthy sport of mountain biking as a catalyst for youth development. While the sport takes place on a bike, the program has a far-reaching impact that is felt in community engagement, personal growth, and connecting with other students. This program isn’t just about developing athletic skills, it is about developing responsible young adults.
Youth Mountain Biking is an excellent way for kids to be active, explore nature, and build life-long healthy habits. The Georgia Cycling Association’s Youth Mountain Bike Program is a five-month season that provides the unique opportunity to build self-confidence while participating in one of the fastest-growing sports in Georgia.
Our season starts July 1 and runs through late November. During this time, youth mountain bike teams across Georgia host team rides and practices. These team events offer students the opportunity to learn cross-country mountain bike skills. Students will also build life skills, based on the pillars of our program, that will help them off the trail.
Georgia Cycling welcomes riders of all skill levels. Our specially trained coaches will work to nurture individual goals and needs. There are no tryouts to join a Georgia Cycling team. Our program is open to students in grades 6 through 12.
