Ways of the Cherokee Program – Elachee Nature Science Center

Elachee is excited to once again host award-winning Naturalist and primitive skills expert, Mark Warren!
You may register for one or both of the program offerings.
Session 1: A History of Native People in Southern Appalachia
This program reveals how the land of Southern Appalachia dictated the lifestyle of the people who first inhabited it. The mountains, the plants, the animals, and the geology all played their parts.
Session 2: Seeing the Forest Through the Eyes of the Native Guided Hike
To understand that the forest supplied everything that the original Native American inhabitants needed is to grasp the essence of life in America before Columbus. In this program we will explore the use of wild plants for food and medcine. Trail is approximately .64 miles long with varied terrain.
Cost per program: $12/person, $10/member or veteran
Ages 12 and up
