Appalachian Wanderers: Helen Dortch Longstreet – NEGA History Center
July 27 @ 1:00 pm
Celebrate the natural beauty and wonder of North Georgia this summer with the Northeast Georgia History Center Chautauqua series “Appalachian Wanderers”.
Our second performance features a portrayal of Gainesville’s own social activist, Helen Dortch Longstreet (widow of Gen. James Longstreet), who fought passionately to protect Tallulah Falls and Gorge from exploitation.
This presentation includes preshow entertainment featuring performances by Atlanta Historic Dance of popular dance, contemporary with the times Longstreet will speak from. The performance is followed by in-character and out-of-character Q&A.
Free for Members, $10 for non-Members.
