SUMMARY:Forum: Miracles & Episcopal Influence in the Late Roman Empire - NEGA History Center
DESCRIPTION:Forum Lecture Series | Miracles & Episcopal Influence in the Late Roman Empire \nWith Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Michael Proulx \nMiracles played an important role in revealing divine favor in ancient Mediterranean societies. However\, in the emerging Christian-Roman Empire\, they were used to promote distinct and contradictory forms of spiritual authority. This talk explores the popular use of miracle stories in the late 4th century. It highlights an age of anxiety over who best represented model leaders of a Christian community. \nThe presentation will be follow by a Question and Answer Session with our guest speaker.

SUMMARY:Homeschool Intensive: World War II - NEGA History Center
DESCRIPTION:Homeschool Intensive: World War II\nThursday\, March 19th | 10:30 AM; 12:15 PM \nLed by Historian Glen Kyle \nThe intensive classes are in lieu of the regular monthly Homeschool Day\, students grades 6th-12th ONLY. Pre-registration is required. There will be a small free activity for the younger siblings of those families who wish to wait instead of dropping off their student.\nTwo class options are available (each class is capped at 30 students to ensure a quality experience) – tickets available for each or both classes. \nPLEASE EXAMINE THE CLASS AND TICKET OPTIONS CAREFULLY \nClass 1: 10:30AM – Homefront and Battlefront: American in WWII\nThe United States entered World War II after a decade of isolationism\, desperate to avoid another global conflict. Draw in by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941\, it fought on every continent and emerged a nuclear superpower.  Using real objects from the time\, this class will examine the American experience of soldiers\, sailors\, and airmen overseas as well as the lives of those on the home front who sacrificed and fought for liberty around the world. \nClass 2: 12:15PM – Allied for Victory: Great Britain and the Soviet Union in WWII\nThe United States certainly didn’t win WWII on its own; indeed\, it was only a single nation in the “Big Three” that also included England and Russia.  Only by working together were the main allies able to defeat the Germans and Japanese\, but only with great sacrifice. Through real historical objects from both countries\, we’ll explore the individual British and Soviet soldier’s experiences\, and properly contextualize their contributions alongside those of the United States. \nPre-Registration Link Now Open!
