SUMMARY:Headwaters River Rendezvous - Chattahoochee Riverkeeper
DESCRIPTION:Come out with friends\, family\, or just yourself to collect water samples and track pollution on both sides of Georgia’s subcontinental divide. Upper Oconee Watershed Network (UOWN) and Chattahoochee Riverkeeper are joining together to gather data about the health of streams and rivers in both our watersheds. We’ll provide instructions on how and where to collect your water samples. Attendees will split up into groups to collect water samples. After you’ve visited your site\, drop off your sample at our starting point and enjoy a complimentary lunch while our staff and interns analyze your water samples. \nNo previous monitoring experience is necessary! Most sample sites are accessible by a short drive and/or walk from our starting point\, but volunteers will need to be comfortable navigating to and accessing stream-side sample sites. This event will take place rain or shine from 9:00AM to 1:00PM\, so dress accordingly. \nBe prepared to team up to drive or walk to assigned sample sites. This is a great activity for families and to do together!

Boats are beautifully decorated and paraded before being illuminated and set afloat on the river as sacred offerings. Additionally\, floating flowers on the river symbolize the warding off of misfortune and gratitude to the water spirits. In this spirit\, the Atlanta Lantern Boat Festival will include a parade through the park during the evening\, with dragon boats adorned with lanterns gracing the lake. \nFestival Mission\nThe festival enriches the multicultural fabric of Georgia by introducing a unique and vibrant cultural celebration and presence of Laotian Americans to a broader audience. Its themes of light and water symbolize renewal\, hope\, and the cleansing of negativity\, offering participants a sense of optimism and community while fostering greater understanding and respect. All raised proceeds will aid in LAS’ operation\, mission\, and programs.

SUMMARY:73rd Annual Charity Ball: A Night at the Ramsey - Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 73rd annual Charity Ball – A Night at the Ramsey; an Upscale 80’s Experience! This year’s ball will feature the Band-X\, bringing the best of the decade’s music to life\, as well as a curated dinner by locally renowned Chef David. Doors open at 7:00pm. Buffet will open at 8:00pm. Donations\, silent auction\, and raffle will close promptly at 9:15pm. \nFor over 70 years\, the Junior League of Gainesville Hall County has hosted Charity Ball to help raise funds and serve community needs. Our annual Charity Ball event provides high school young women an opportunity to work together with a local civic club or non-profit organization to serve their community by raising funds that will be given back to local organizations supported by the Junior League. The funds the Belle candidates raise have reached in the hundreds of thousands in past years\, most of which is delegated towards many Junior League internal projects focused on childhood hunger\, wellness\, and nutrition in the Gainesville and Hall County communities and school systems in need. A portion of the funds raised are also set aside for a Signature Grant\, a $75\,000 grant that will be awarded in 2026 to a nonprofit organization in the area. \nCLICK HERE TO RESERVE YOUR TICKETS
