Along the way\, they cross paths with Cinderella\, Jack\, Little Red Riding Hood\, and more. But happily ever after is just the beginning. With a rich score by Stephen Sondheim and a poignant\, playful book\, Into the Woods explores dreams\, choices\, and the tangled consequences of desire. DESCRIPTION:Mental Health Art & Creative Writing Contest \nContest Day: Sunday\, April 19\, 2026 | 1:00-5:00 PM \nTheme:\n​​QVAC invites students in grades K–12 to participate in the Mental Health Art & Creative Writing Contest\, an art competition centered on the powerful role that friendship\, relationships\, and connection have in shaping mental health. Students are encouraged to explore how genuine friendships can uplift\, support\, and strengthen emotional well-being.\nThis theme highlights the idea that when friendships are true\, rooted in kindness\, trust\, and understanding\, they can be a vital source of resilience and healing. Students may interpret this in any way that feels meaningful to them\, whether through personal experiences\, imagined scenes\, or symbolic expression. \nFor students K-5\, QVAC encourages parents to have this conversation with your students to help them explore the idea of true friendships. \nCompetition Details:\nStudents will create their artwork on-site with provided materials (electronic tools and pre-existing prompts are not permitted).\nCash prize awards: K-2: $100 | Grades 3-5: $100 | Grades 6-8: $100 | Grades 9-10: $200 | Grade 11-12: $300\nRepresentatives of Best in Show from each grade level will be part of public art. \nReception & Awards Ceremony:\nDate: April 20\nTime: 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM\nLocation: Quinlan Visual Arts Center\nWinners Announced: 6:00 PM \n​How to Participate:\nStudents are encouraged to pre-register by Friday\, April 17\, at 5:00 PM. \nThis event is an opportunity for our community to come together\, recognize the talent of young creatives\, and raise awareness about the powerful role genuine friendships play in uplifting\, supporting\, and strengthening emotional well-being.
